Christmas Series: Maple Balsamic Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Apples
Ingredients:
1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
1 large green apple, diced
1/4 cup olive oil
4 Tbsp. maple syrup
2.5 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
1 tsp. liquid smoke
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a baking sheet.
In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, vinegar, maple syrup, liquid smoke, salt, and pepper.
Add Brussels sprouts and apples and stir until coated.
Pour mixture onto baking sheet and roast in oven for 20 minutes until browned and fork tender, flipping halfway through to ensure even browning. (If you desire crispier sprouts, turn on the broiler for a few minutes and keep watch until sprouts are cooked to your taste! It is easy to burn them under the broiler, so don’t just turn it on and walk away…)
(At this point, you can add another couple of teaspoons of balsamic vinegar if you like more vinegary sprouts.) Enjoy!
